Mitchell D. Kaye, J.D.

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Kaye is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MedClaims Liaison, LLC. Mr. Kaye was formerly a Managing Director with Navigant Capital Advisors and Head of Navigant's Financial Institutions Restructuring Solutions Team (FIRST). Previously, as a successful entrepreneur in the asset management industry, Mr. Kaye launched two, highly profitable asset management companies. Mr. Kaye was the founding member of Xmark Opportunity Partners, LLC, an investment fund exclusively focused on investments in publicly traded life sciences companies. Mr. Kaye established a venerable reputation as an activist investor, taking influential stakes in numerous companies, forcing changes at the Board of Directors and management levels, and guiding the sale of several of his portfolio companies to the benefit of shareholders. Mr. Kaye began his career as a founding member of Brown Simpson Asset Management, LLC (Brown Simpson) an investment fund that was at the foreground of private placement investing in the public markets. Mr. Kaye launched Brown Simpson’s life sciences investment unit, which produced a value weighted cash-on-cash return in excess of 100% during the 5-year life of the fund. During his investment career, Mr. Kaye consummated over 100 transactions as a lead investor, structured over a billion dollars in debt and equity-linked transactions, and took an active role in the management of numerous portfolio companies. Mr. Kaye has served on the boards of several private and public companies, as well as having served on the board of the New York Alzheimer’s Association. Mr. Kaye received his BA from Wesleyan University, and his Juris Doctorate from Northwestern University School of Law.

Nancy Kaye

Founder

Ms. Kaye oversees claims operations and customer service for MCL, and is MCL's Chief Privacy Officer. Ms. Kaye has over a decade of experience in managing medical reimbursement claims. She began processing medical claims in 1997 during her time as a real estate manager and director of administration for a multi-family owned corporation. Her expertise in this area allowed her to branch out into a consulting role with two New York area corporations, where her primary responsibility was medical claims processing for the employees of the respective corporations. Over the past decade, Ms. Kaye has handled thousands of medical claims, increasing efficiencies in both the time and yield of recoveries from many of the major insurance plans, across myriad conditions and treatments. Ms. Kaye’s success over the past fourteen years led her to create MedClaims Liaison, LLC. Ms. Kaye received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rollins College, and currently resides in Westchester County with her husband and children.

Lisa Janis

Vice President, Operations

Ms. Janis coordinates the enrollment of new corporate clients and partnerships for MCL, including employers, healthcare providers and payors. Ms. Janis is also the Vice President of Operations and Strategic Development at ABS. Ms. Janis coordinates the transition and realization of new clients, for physicians and physician practices. She serves as point person with physicians and office managers to ensure the successful transition of many projects. Ms. Janis successfully negotiates contracts with managed care carriers, resulting in increased revenue for the physician practices and for the company. Prior to joining ABS, Ms. Janis spent four years at Oxford Health Plans. One of her many accomplishments was to lead the implementation of Medicare arrangements (full risk and vendor) that created sixty million dollars of savings for the company. Ms. Janis received her M.B.A in Health Care Administration from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.

Jacqueline Eckert

Chief Behavioral Health Liaison, Member Services

Ms. Eckert plays a key role in Member Services applying her domain expertise to customer outreach and education, consultations and enrollments for families who have behavioral health needs. The bulk of her experience comes from handling the back-end operations for Aetna Behavioral Health customer service. As a team leader, Ms. Eckert resolved coordination of benefits, authorizations, appeals and claims, thereby ensuring timely payments of services to members and providers. Throughout the course of her seven year career at Aetna, Ms. Eckert facilitated and resolved complex claim and benefit issues for hundreds of customers on thousands of claims. Ms. Eckert received her undergraduate degree from West Chester University.

John B. Loperena

Director of Claims Analysis

Mr. Loperena oversees the collection of reimbursements on large balance claims for MCL. Mr. Loperena has over 30 years of healthcare and billing experience in medical and hospital settings. Prior to joining MCL, Mr. Loperena was a Senior Project Manager at Advanced Billing Service for three years where he was responsible for credentialing of physicians, client billing, compliance, and system development. In 1998 Mr. Loperena opened Doctors Billing Service (DBS). As owner, Mr. Loperena provided billing services for twenty different medical specialties, including oncology, endocrinology, psychiatry and rheumatology. Mr. Loperena also credentialed physicians and negotiated physician contracts. In 1996 Mr. Loperena joined the Westchester Medical Group (WMG) as Associate Director of Professional Services. Mr. Loperena was responsible for all aspects of billing for a multispecialty group with multiple locations. Mr. Loperena was also involved in contract negotiations with insurance carriers as well as the credentialing of physicians. In 1988, Mr. Loperena joined Medical Business Associates (MBA), the billing service for the Department of Medicine for New York Medical College. At MBA, Mr. Loperena became the Director of Operations, managing over sixty-five staff members billing for over twenty medical practices. In this role Mr. Loperena was responsible for the daily operations of a multispecialty billing service. Mr. Loperena began his healthcare career as a Medical Record Coordinator and moved into role of Senior Patient Accounts Representative for St. Vincent’s Hospital (Westchester Branch). Mr. Loperena attended Pace University for Accounting and Computer Sciences.

Ray Conta, J.D.

Mr. Conta oversees MCL’s special situations group, providing strategic insight on long-term initiatives for MCL. Mr. Conta is the founder of a successful healthcare revenue cycle management business, which includes subsidiaries Advanced Billing Services (ABS) and Chase Receivables. Combined, his companies have over 100 employees and 300 physician clients. One of his initiatives, a comprehensive analysis and review of a 100+ multi-specialty physician group, more than doubled revenue and collections for ABS. Mr. Conta negotiates managed care contracts and credentials clients. Mr. Conta also practices law, specializing in physician contracting, managed care contracts, and Health Law. As a Messenger Model Contract Negotiator for the Medical Faculty Health Alliance, IPA (MFHA), Mr. Conta maintains and develops new contracts with insurance carriers to negotiate better rates for the 550 member IPA. Mr. Conta is a Certified Professional Medical Coder, has a J.D. from Pace University, and has a B.A. in Economics from Hamilton College.
